Stone Pine Oil

This month we would like to introduce stone pine oil.

The stone pine grows in the Bavarian, Austrian, and Swiss Alps. It reaches a height of 20–30 meters and can live for up to 1,000 years.

Its positive effect on sleep quality is well known. For this reason, wardrobes and beds made from stone pine wood are commonly used in bedrooms today.

The oil is obtained through steam distillation of the branches and needles. Its scent is woody, fresh, and clean.

The fragrance promotes well-being and relaxation. It can help lower the heart rate and extend deep sleep phases, thereby prolonging the body’s recovery periods.

As with other coniferous trees, inhaling the scent increases the number of natural killer cells, which neutralize free radicals and help stabilize the immune system.

It is highly effective for respiratory conditions and is also an important oil for rheumatic diseases. In addition, the scent of stone pine helps neutralize unpleasant odors.

Physically, the oil has mucolytic (mucus-loosening) and analgesic (pain-relieving) properties.

On an emotional level, it has anxiety-relieving, stabilizing, strengthening, and sedative effects.

Due to these properties, stone pine oil is used in the following areas:

  • Respiratory infections – rhinitis, bronchitis, pneumonia
  • Rheumatoid arthritis
  • Anxiety
  • Depressive moods
  • Insomnia
